Shungite: What this recent phenomenon is, how to use it, and where to buy an authentic piece for yourself!
Special Highlights: Tune into later in the article to gain insights into COLOMBIAN SHUNGITE, (Russia was the only locality for Shungite until now!), AND to see how Shungite can help you during this MERCURY RETROGRADE SEASON (September 27, 2021, to October 17, 2021)!
(Hi there! If you are here for the Metaphysical properties of Shungite, it can be found towards the end of the article! Thank you.)
Shungite stones have grown increasingly trendy in recent years. These stones are said to have properties that can help your mind, body, and spirit in a variety of ways. Shungite is thought to be a rare stone with anti-pollution, anti-free radical, and anti-germ properties. It's also claimed to help protect you from electromagnetic field exposure. Some individuals think that shungite stones have therapeutic qualities and are similar to crystals. However, shungite stones do not provide all the health advantages that some individuals believe they do. They can, however, assist in certain very specific situations and show promise in others. Read on to find out more!
What is Shungite?
Shungite is an extremely uncommon black stone that contains up to 98 percent carbon. Shunga, a locality in Karelia, Russia, is where it's mostly found. Genuine shungite stones come from the Russian village of Shunga in Karelia. For years, people have been attracted to these stones, and the region is rich in shungite resources.
The composition of the stone is unusual. It's made up of fullerenes, which are 60-carbon-atom 3-D spherical molecules. Buckyballs are hollow molecules that are occasionally used as a name for them. Many micro and macro minerals may be found in shungite stones. Quartz, mica, albite, and pyrite are examples of these minerals. Natural shungite comes in a variety of textures and forms. Some health-conscious people may be attracted to the stones because of their distinctiveness (we’ll discuss more on this later in the article.)
The origins of shungite are obscure. Carbon-based substances are often derived from decomposed organic matter, such as ancient forests. Carbon-based shungite, on the other hand, is estimated to be at least 2 billion years old—this was before the planet had any biological life.
Some of the hypotheses surrounding Shungite’s origin:
- Shungite was deposited in the earth after a huge meteorite impacted with Earth
- Microorganisms in neighboring water caused shungite to develop
- The organic matter content of sedimentary rocks shifted with time
Although scientists are unsure of how shungite was formed or where it came from, they attribute the stone’s potential benefits to its fullerene content. Shungite contains nanoparticles, which are so tiny that they are invisible to the naked eye. However, nanotechnology — the creation of objects using atomic particles — relies heavily on these tiny particles. When it comes to fullerenes, they may be capable of carrying unstable atoms within them. These might be used as contrast agents in imaging procedures such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-ray imaging. Contrast agents are chemicals you ingest to help machines view your body or cells more clearly.
When synthesized into specific types of medicines, fullerenes also have antiviral properties. One day, you could learn that shungite fullerenes are aiding in the treatment of HIV and other viral illnesses. And chemotherapy medicines made from fullerenes might be utilized to treat cancer!
Some claims about Shungite and its characteristics that haven't been comprehensively proven by science or research include:
Shungite's composition is beneficial to the human body. Because of the ideal bio-electromagnetic frequency, which has the capacity to reverse numerous counter frequencies that cause difficulties in the body owing to their negative impact on soft tissues, it has been dubbed "the medicine of the twenty-first century" in certain groups.
According to Shungite scientific study, this negativity may be anything from WMF electromagnetic waves to RMF electromagnetic waves to a variety of other forms of radiation that have been proved to harm the human body. Many believers believe it may be used spiritually based on this notion. The energy created by the stone interacts with the body in a circular manner, clockwise in effect. In most situations, many radiations act in a counterclockwise direction. So, it’s speculated that a negative and positive field is created when the two move near together. Shungite energy is positive, whereas radiation energy is negative. Because of all the components that fuel its movement, Shungite's frequency is thought to either absorb or repel slower moving negative frequencies from various types of radiation.
The hypotheses of Shungite stone's abilities include rotation, periodicity, and movement as essential aspects. Taking into mind the metaphysical component of Shungite usage, what some are stating about Shungite being a healing element may make sense.
History and Early Uses
Shungite is a mineral deposit in the most basic sense. It earned its name after being discovered on the banks of Lake Onega in Shunga, a region in North West Russia, bordering Finland, in the territory of North Karelia. Shungite has variable amounts of carbon and is mined as a hardened chunk in one location (Russia). It has a carbon base that goes back 2.5 to 3 billion years. Shungite stone is predominantly found in North West Russia, although it has also been discovered in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and other minor sections of the Asian side of the eastern continent. The mines, on the other hand, are located on the north shore of Lake Onega, where the finest Shungite rocks were discovered.
Shungite scientific study has established several facts regarding this stone. As we had prefaced earlier, it has a carbon matrix named after Richard Buckminster Fuller. Fullerenes, often known as Buckyballs, are a kind of this material. The carbon in coal was the first form of carbon that American scientists discovered about. They believed it was the most powerful carbon on the planet, so they devised several methods for converting coal into energy. That is something we continue to do now. Carbon in coal is considerably less developed than in the Shungite carbon matrix, according to Shungite studies. Consider the Shungite carbon matrix to be a rolled-up chain link fence. Under a powerful microscope, the carbon matrix of the Buckyballs has this sort of dense complex structure. Shungite scientific study has discovered that it neutralizes a variety of hazardous substances that might affect the body.
On the mineral scale, the carbon matrix of Shungite stone is often referred to as "C60." As a result, it is much more powerful than coal carbon, which is used for heating, old steam trains, and other things, but it is also processed and transformed. There is also a form of carbon that is made in factories and used in water filters. That carbon is numbered considerably lower than C60, and it is rarely stronger than 8 or 9. This lower form of carbon is produced and often used to cleanse water and other chemicals via a technique known as reverse osmosis. Shungite stone, with a considerably higher grade, has the potential to perform a lot better for carbon-based creatures.
With its complex matrix of physical characteristics, the “natural” Shungite stone carbon is far more fluid in its capacity to respond to many artificial substances that come into contact with it. When utilized correctly, it is claimed to have the power to neutralize dangerous kinds of negative energy by creating a natural type of "forcefield" for your body. This "forcefield" distinguishes between produced carbon (granulated carbon) and genuine Shungite.
Countless attempts to burn shungite were undertaken during the Crimean War, World War I, and the Leningrad fuel crisis. Despite the rock's high carbon concentration, all attempts were fruitless. Even though shungite had a strong redox activity, it couldn't be burned in a furnace.
Mother nature may have had other intentions for shungite, whether it was for water purification, EMF protection, or the huge energetic and metaphysical advantages (more on that later in the discussion.) Perhaps researchers lost interest in shungite after they learned it couldn't be utilized as a fuel source, which could explain the paucity of research on shungite and its purported properties.
Apart from EMF protection, shungite water, when adding it to handcrafted cosmetic items, assisting in spiritual activities, interior designing, and gardening with it, is said to have a variety of additional uses!
Shungite may have not succeeded as a fuel source, but it is currently employed in some surprising ways. Take, for example, Zazhoginsky shungite, a shungite deposit made up of carbon, quartz, complicated silicates, and sulfides. It's because of its complicated makeup that it's such a good catalyst. Shungite is also said to have bactericidal characteristics, high mechanical strength, low abrasion, low porosity, chemical media resistance, high reduction ability, electrical conductivity, and the capacity to mix with all binders and interact with diverse electromagnetic fields! Shungite is regarded as one of the most therapeutic stones on the world because of all its interesting physical and metaphysical characteristics.
Some Quick Facts on Shungite from the Wellness Hut:
- Shungite carbon is non-graphite, X-ray amorphous, and fullerene-like
- On a molecular level, it tends to form spherical structures and intricate matrices of spheres atop spheres with diameters ranging from 10 to 30 nanometers
- Shungite-like carbon structures have been discovered in space
- Shungite rocks are a nanostructured natural composite with a wide range of compositions
- Carbon content in layered shungite rocks varies from a fraction of a percent to more than 70 percent
- The mineral composition of shungite ranges from quartz to complex silicate.
Types of Shungite
Shungite is a natural mineraloid that contains non-crystalline carbon. There are five types of shungite (though, generally classified into three kinds, more on that later), classified by carbon content.
Type I Shungite contains more than 98 mass% of glass-like carbon
Type II Shungite contains 35–80 mass% of carbon
Type III Shungite contains 20–35 mass% of carbon
Type IV Shungite contains 10–20 mass% of carbon
Type V Shungite contains <10 mass% of carbon
Shungite of Type III is the most common, and the largest shungite deposits are found in Russia's Karelia area (as of current data.) Shungite often contains quartz, aluminosilicates, feldspars, and carbonates in addition to carbon. Shungite also contains a variety of micro impurities, including Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, and V, which are mainly found as sulphides, sulphates, and oxides. One study by Charykova, M. V. Bornyakova, I. I. Polekhovskii, Y. S. Charykov, N. A. Kustova, and E. V. Arapov O in the 2006 paper titled, "Chemical composition of extracts from shungite and shungite water," in the Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry discovered that Type III shungite also included Cr, Co, Pb, and Mn, in addition to these tiny impurities.
While phrases such as "elite shungite" may imply that there are different grades of shungite, this is not necessarily the case. Shungite is classified into three distinct kinds, each with its unique set of features and characteristics.
The distinctions between these three kinds of shungite are as follows:
Type 1: Elite (Noble) Shungite
Elite shungite is the rarest form of shungite, with a carbon content of up to 98 percent. It accounts for less than 1% of all shungite discovered in Karelia. Because of its silvery appearance and surface, Elite shungite is the simplest type of shungite to detect and differentiate from others. Because it is significantly more delicate than other varieties of shungite, it is never really treated and is marketed in its natural raw state. As a result, infusions of other rocks and minerals are frequently found in elite shungite nuggets that have been lying next to shungite in the earth for millennia. When it comes to water purification, EMF shielding, and injury recovery, it is said to be the most effective form of shungite - it just works speedier than other varieties of shungite.
Type 2: Petrovsky Shungite
It's a crossover between elite and regular shungite, combining the finest of them both. Petrovsky shungite is typically composed of 50 to 70 percent carbon and is recognized by its rich black hue. Because of the particular composition and structure of this shungite, it can be molded and treated without breaking like Elite Shungite, and you can find a lot of jewelry, pendants, and carvings made of it. Additionally, the high carbon content makes it a powerful healing and protective tool that is far stronger than regular shungite, in the metaphysical context, due to its higher carbon content.
Type 3: Regular Shungite
The most prevalent kind of shungite, and the source of the majority of shungite products. It can be molded into almost anything with a little technique, making it an effective and popular shungite for the metaphysical market. This shungite can be fashioned into pyramids, spheres, cubes, pendants, stands, plates and tiles, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, or tumbled stones.
Regular shungite has 30 to 50 percent carbon and has a less brittle structure than the other kinds. Because all Regular Shungite goods are usually available in two versions – polished and unpolished shungite – regular shungite yields to a wide range of shapes, sizes, and types of products.
Regular shungite items are said to be the go-to item for everyday personal healing and protection, where you can just put on your favorite fashionable necklace (or any other form of jewelry) for its perceived benefits.
Take-away:
Shungite is classified into three types: elite (or noble) shungite, Petrovsky shungite, and regular shungite. The primary distinction between them is the volume of organic carbon contained in the stones. Rare elite shungite nuggets contain over 90% pure carbon and are said to have a greater healing energy.
Due to the high carbon content, elite crystals are the most uncommon, but also the most brittle, of the shungite varieties. They are difficult to shape or polish. As a result, noble shungite specimens are typically marketed in their natural shape.
The majority of shaped shungite objects, such as pyramids, spheres, and beads, are composed of regular shungite containing around 30% to 50% carbon. Due to its dark black hue, this kind of shungite is highly popular among artisan jewelry makers worldwide.
Worth noting that all three forms of shungite have all of shungite's strong characteristics, but elite shungite is more successful at applying them, whilst regular shungite has a far wider range of products.
Shungite Benefits
Shungite stones, like crystals, have been around for millennia. They've grown increasingly prominent in alternative medicine in recent years. There is little scientific proof on the advantages of shungite to date; many of the claims are subjective or require additional scientific study. The supposed virtues of shungite are outlined below.
Water Purification
Shungite has been used to filter water since early civilizations. This is owing to its claimed antibacterial and antiviral properties. Shungite can filter water by eliminating pollutants and organic compounds like pesticides, according to a 2018 research from the European Journal of Medicine, by Georgi Gluhchev, Ignat Ignatov, and Yuliana Pesheva, titled, “Carbonaceous Fullerene Containing Nano Mineral Shungite. Properties for Purification of Water Detoxification of Human Body.” Carbon from shungite can also eliminate radioactive substances from water, according to a 2017 research, from Elsevier Publications, by Artur Khannanov, Vadim V. Nekljudov, Bulat Gareev, Airat Kiiamov, James M. Tour, and Ayrat M. Dimiev, titled, “Oxidatively modified carbon as efficient material for removing radionuclides from water.”
Bactericide and Viricide
Fullerenes are a kind of carbon nanostructure found in shungite. Carbon nanostructures (CNSs) are various physical forms of carbon. CNSs have the capacity to remove pathogenic microorganisms, according to a review of research published in 2017, in the MDPI Materials Journal, by Ahmed AL-Jumaili, Surjith Alancherry, Kateryna Bazaka, and Mohan V. Jacob, titled, “Review on the Antimicrobial Properties of Carbon Nanostructures.” They are believed to act by causing damage to cellular walls of bacteria and viruses. When microorganisms come into contact with CNSs, they lose electrons and die. However, it is questionable what this signifies in terms of human illness. More research is needed to learn how the fullerenes in shungite impact pathogens specifically.
Antioxidant
Shungite exhibits antioxidant effects, as per a 2017 animal research, by Ma. Easter Joy Sajo, Cheol-Su Kim, Soo-Ki Kim, Kwang Yong Shim, Tae-Young King, and Kyu-Jae Lee, titled, “Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Shungite against Ultraviolet B Irradiation-Induced Skin Damage in Hairless Mice,” from the Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity journal. In this study, the mice were exposed to ultraviolet B radiation for two days by the researchers. On the mice's skin, this manifested in skin damage and oxidative stress. Reactive oxidants, or chemicals that harm healthy cells, produce oxidative stress. The researchers next administered a shungite mixture to the mice's injured skin for seven days. This reduced ROS generation while increasing antioxidant enzyme activity. These findings may appear encouraging, but keep in mind that the study was only conducted on mice. To fully comprehend shungite's antioxidant potential in humans, more study is required.
Lowers Inflammation
Shungite was discovered to decrease inflammation in the same animal research from 2017 (“Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Shungite against Ultraviolet B Irradiation-Induced Skin Damage in Hairless Mice,” from the Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity journal, by Ma. Easter Joy Sajo, Cheol-Su Kim, Soo-Ki Kim, Kwang Yong Shim, Tae-Young King, and Kyu-Jae Lee). Lower levels of inflammatory indicators, such as cytokines, or inflammation-related proteins, were detected by the researchers. Shungite may be beneficial for inflammatory illnesses as a result of this advantage, according to the researchers. Though, more investigation is required once again.
Physical Health Effects
According to Healthline, water permeated with shungite has customarily been used for: allergies, sore throats, asthma, gastric issues, arthritis, kidney problems, liver problems, gallbladder issues, autoimmune disease, pancreatic dysfunction, aiding insomnia, relieving pain, improving energy levels, detoxification of body, and relief of chronic fatigue. Potentially, if shungite contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities, it may be able to aid with these ailments. But, there is presently no clinical evidence to suggest that shungite-infused water can assist treat these illnesses due to an absence of study. Thus, it's safer to stick to established medical treatment methods, for these physical ailments, and seek a licensed medical practitioner for care.
Stress Reduction
Anecdotal evidence suggests that shungite might aid with stress relief. It is thought to absorb negative energies and bring emotional balance. Many people believe that because shungite absorbs negative energy, it might assist to reduce tension and anxiety. This is a novel concept that isn't supported by clinical or scientific data (as these studies are currently lacking.) However, incorporating shungite into a sensory method, such as breathing exercises, mindfulness and mantra meditation, or guided imagery or visualization, may be useful. Touching and holding things might assist you in relieving stress. Holding or touching a shungite stone is one example.
Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Emissions’ Shield
Shungite users suggest that the stone may protect you from EMF emissions.
Many individuals cite a 2003 research, from the National Library of Medicine’s National Center for Biotechnology Information, by S P Kurotchenko, T I Subbotina, I Tuktamyshev, Sh Tuktamyshev, A A Khadartsev, and A A Yashin, titled, “Shielding effect of mineral Shungite during electromagnetic irradiation of rats,” in which shungite was found to protect rats against electromagnetic irradiation. However, the research is old and only includes animals. This phenomenon has some theoretical backing, but further research is needed to discover if it has any human benefits.
POSSIBLE HARMS OF EMF
Since the dawn of time, the sun has sent waves that result in EMFs, or radiation. We can observe the sun's energy radiating out, which we sense as visible light, at the same time as it emits EMFs. Electric power lines and interior lights were widely available around the start of the twentieth century. Scientists discovered that the power cables delivering all of that electricity to the world's population were emitting electromagnetic fields (EMFs), much as the sun does naturally. Scientists discovered that many new electrical gadgets produce EMFs over time. Many diagnostic and treatment gadgets, including ones used as imaging machines for X-rays and CT scans, were discovered to emit EMFs as the medical world progressed.
90% of the world's population now has access to electricity and utilizes appliances. As a result, a great deal of power and electromagnetic fields (EMFs) is produced all over the planet. Despite all of these waves, experts generally do not believe EMFs are harmful to human health. But, there are varied types of EMFs and their levels of radiation effects and harm is categorized in that manner.
Radiation may be found all throughout the electromagnetic spectrum. On one end of the spectrum, this radiation is very high-energy (called high-frequency), while on the other end, it is very low-energy (called low-frequency).
According to Healthline, examples of high-energy radiation include:
Ionizing radiation affects cells at the atomic level by removing an electron from an atom, or “ionizing” it. Ionizing radiation damages DNA and cells in the body, which can lead to genetic abnormalities and cancer.
Extremely low-frequency (ELF) radiation is on the other end of the spectrum. Non-ionizing radiation is what this is. It can vibrate or move atoms in the body, but most scientists think that this isn't enough to harm DNA or cells.
Healthline says, other forms of non-ionizing radiation exist between ELF and high-energy radiation on the spectrum, such as:
In most kinds of radiation, electric and magnetic fields combine to produce a single field. An electromagnetic field is the consequence (EMF).
In ELF radiation, however, the electric and magnetic fields can work independently. As a result, we refer to these two distinct fields in ELF radiation as "magnetic field" and "electric field."
To summarize, there are two forms of EMFs to which you may be exposed:
-
EMFs with a high frequency. This is an example of ionizing radiation. Large exposures, according to scientific evidence, can harm DNA or cells. Low amounts of this sort of radiation are produced by medical devices such as X-ray imaging machines and CT scans. Gamma radiation from radioactive materials and UV radiation from tanning beds or the sun are two more sources.
- EMFs in a low to mid-frequency range. This is the kind of radiation that isn't ionizing. It's a milder and it’s believed to be harmless to humans. This kind of radiation is produced by household equipment including microwave ovens, telephones, hair dryers, and washing machines, as well as power lines and MRIs. Extremely low frequency EMFs (ELF-EMFs) and radiofrequency EMFs are both included in this category of EMFs (RF-EMFs).
Non-ionizing EMFs can be found in both natural and man-made domains. An example of a natural EMF is the earth's magnetic field. Human-made EMFs are divided into two categories, both of which are produced by non-ionizing radiation:
- EMFs with a very low frequency (ELF-EMFs). A multitude of sources can produce this non-ionizing radiation field, including power lines, electrical wiring, and personal gadgets such as electric shavers, hair dryers, and electric blankets.
- Radiation of a radio frequency nature. Wireless gadgets such as mobile phones, smart meters, tablets, and laptop computers generate this non-ionizing radiation field. Radio and television transmissions, radar, satellite stations, and MRI equipment all produce it.

HARMFUL OR NOT HARMFUL?
The precise and accurate consequences of EMF exposure on human health have yet to be identified. In the future years, research may provide us with more information.
Some studies link EMF exposure to a variety of illnesses, although researchers agree that further research is needed. Many of the studies rely on animal or cell models, which are unreliable when used in human health research. Some of these symptoms have also been linked to electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), a condition in which patients ascribe a variety of non-specific symptoms to EMF exposure. Although people do experience symptoms that are sometimes unpleasant and sometimes debilitating, the medical field has not proven EHS. There is presently no reputable evidence linking EHS symptoms to EMF exposure, and EHS is not recognized a medical diagnosis. More research, according to the medical community, is required.
Nonetheless, some evidence suggests that EMF symptomatology may be true. Some researchers have suggested the following symptoms:
- Headache
- Tremor
- Dizziness
- Memory loss, changes in memory
- Loss of concentration
- Sleep disturbance, including insomnia
- Depression and depressive symptoms
- Tiredness and fatigue
- Dysesthesia (a painful, often itchy sensation)
- Irritability
- Loss of appetite and weight loss
- Nausea
- Skin burning and tingling
- Restlessness and anxiety
Possible Protection from EMF exposure:
LOW TO MID FREQUENCY EMFS: Remember that extremely low frequency EMFs (ELF-EMFs) and radiofrequency EMFs are included in this category of EMFs (RF-EMFs). Any electric equipment can emit this sort of radiation. Refrigerators and vacuum cleaners are among the gadgets, as are televisions and computer monitors (when they're turned on). Extremely low frequency and radiofrequency EMFs, according to the WHO, are unlikely to create any harmful health consequences. You should feel secure when using your mobile phone and other electronic devices. Power lines are likewise deemed safe as long as they are kept at a reasonable distance. With distance, the EMF intensity surrounding appliances gradually decreases. Most household appliances have magnetic fields that are more than 100 times lower than the limit set by the ICNERP recommendations for the general public at 1 foot.
HIGH FREQUENCY EMFs: Keep in mind that this is the sort of radiation that might be harmful to your health. High-frequency EMFs can harm DNA and cells at high doses. Medical instruments such as X-ray imaging machines, as well as UV rays from tanning beds or the sun, emit low quantities of this radiation.
Try these strategies, according to Healthline, to prevent high-level exposure and related risks:
LOW TO MID FREQUENCY EMFs: |
HIGH FREQUENCY EMFs |
Do not sit or linger near electrical appliances |
Limit X-rays: only receive X-rays that are medically necessary |
Put your phone down, and sleep away from it |
Limit your time in the Sun: We need sunlight and sun exposure, but limit it, and protect yourself with natural sunscreens |
Use the speaker function or earbuds with your phone |
Limit time in tanning beds |
Do not carry your phone in a pocket or on your body via clip etc. |

REAL OR HOAX
Fullerene Content
Fullerene is a carbon molecule that has undergone an allotropic transformation. It was found in 1985 by Robert Smoli and Robert Curl of the United States, as well as Harold Kroto of the United Kingdom. These scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize in 1996 for their discovery of Fullerenes. Carbon is bonded in linear chains in fullerenes; these chains form a lattice; this lattice is referred to as a fullerene. Fullerene molecules can take on a variety of shapes.
As we had discussed earlier in the article, Fullerenes are a kind of carbon nanostructure found in shungite.
The most well-known is fullerene C60, which contains 60 carbon atoms. Additionally, some types of fullerenes can form complete structures known as nanotubes. Numerous factors contribute to Shungite's uniqueness. It is mostly owing to the presence of Fullerene C 60 in its composition. Molecules of C60 and C70 fullerene were identified from the uncommon mineral shungite, which is also the only natural source of fullerenes.
Shungite took between 600 million and 2 billion years to form. Interestingly, fullerenes exist on the border between living and non-living nature; they cannot be said to be inanimate, but they are not a living entity either.
What is worth noting is that Shungite, based on scientific study and analysis, actually only contains trace amounts of fullerenes (0.0001 < 0.001%)! How exactly that trace amount of fullerenes actually aid Shungite’s properties, or if they even do, is still largely a mystery with the lack of scientific research in that area.
Fake and Real Shungite in the market
Please keep in mind that a Shungite is not a product that is required to be certified within the territory of the Russian Federation. As a result, several unscrupulous merchants from other towns in Russia and other countries offer Shungite-bearing rocks as genuine. The non-exception to this is the NEW FIND from Colombia- which is genuine Shungite.
The simplest and most popular method is to perform a conductivity test. Shungite has a high concentration of rare forms of carbon, which confers on it the capacity to conduct electricity. This is the simplest approach to use at home. However, what if other minerals can carry electricity as well? For instance, this is a well-known rock called Hematite.
Hematite is a mineral that is either black or gray in color. While this mineral, like shungite, exhibits electrical conductivity, its chemical makeup is totally different. To be precise, 30% of classic black shungite is composed of a rare type of carbon. Hematite is composed of 70% iron and 30% oxide. Fe2O3 is the chemical formula for it. Hematite is a popular iron ore that is used in the smelting of iron and in a variety of other industrial processes. Ukraine, Brazil, Austria, and other nations are home to some of the world's largest and most famous hematite resources.
Additionally, there are several rocks containing shungite. These are rocks that are similar to shungite but contain a very small quantity of unique carbon, if any at all. It's worth noting that real Shungite is extracted from just one area on Earth: Russia's Republic of Karelia (although this is no longer the case, as reserves of Elite "Noble" Shungite have recently been discovered in Colombia! That will be discussed in greater detail later in the article).
Shungite conducts electric current excellently. When the conductivity is measured using a particular device (electrical conductivity meter (EC meter)), the resistance of the electric current approaches zero, and the real conductivity of shungite, due to its high carbon content, is about 1500 mho/m—a value not seen in other rocks and minerals. It is also relatively light in weight in comparison to its size, due to its near-pure carbon content of around 98 percent. Because this is a highly expensive and uncommon mineral, the likelihood of forging increases.
Common Shungite-Fakes: Iron Ore and Magnetite
Magnetite is a black mineral that is found across the Earth. It is a naturally occurring iron oxide. It resembles a Karelian elite shungite stone, akin to hematite. This is very certainly due to the comparable black hue and metallic luster, as well as the presence of a conchoidal fracture.
Magnetite is a conductor of electricity. However, the primary distinction between magnetite and other minerals is that it exhibits strong magnetic characteristics and will be highly magnetized. Karelian shungite, on the other hand, is not magnetic. However, it conducts electricity due to its composition of a unique allotropic type of carbon.
Amongst Magnetite, Iron ores and Obsidian (Volcanic Glass) are also sold as Elite Shungite in the market. In this example, the resemblance to shungite is due to the minerals' high reflecting surface and characteristic conchoid fracture. Obsidian, on the other hand, has a glass-like sheen, whereas noble shungite has a strong diamond-metallic luster. Additionally, obsidian is not a conductor of electricity.
Minerals Leaching into Shungite water
According to the article, “Shungite application for treatment of drinking water- is it the right choice?,” by Inga Jurgelane and Janis Locs, published in the Journal Water Health in 2021:
Shungite is a naturally occurring mineral that contains carbon and is frequently utilized in water treatment. According to scientific study, shungite possesses excellent adsorption capabilities for a variety of organic chemicals and heavy metals, as well as antimicrobial qualities. Regrettably, shungite also releases a variety of chemical constituents into the water, including heavy metals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the concentrations of different heavy metals after drinking water treatment using one commercial and one non-commercial shungite sample. Additionally, the sorption of Cu(II) onto shungite at an initial concentration of 2,500 g/L was studied. The results indicated that shungite contains a variety of heavy metals such as nickel, copper, lead, cadmium, zinc, chromium, and arsenic. SHUNGITE AND WATER FILTERING
Shungite is mostly composed of carbon, which has a spherical structure known as fullerenes. There is no other mineral with the same structure as this one. Shungite is extremely good at purifying water due to its fullerene structure. Fullerenes absorb up to 98 percent of pollutants, including heavy metals and dangerous microorganisms, from tap water. Shungite also helps to regulate the pH of water, making shungite water perfectly safe to consume.
Shungite, unlike coal, does not lose its filtering capabilities with time, therefore it may be used repeatedly. Another significant benefit of shungite water is its ease of making it! Here's a quick rundown of the steps:
- For every 1 liter of water, add 50-70 grams of elite shungite stones or 100-150 grams of regular shungite stones.
- Place shungite stones in a glass jar or other water container, fill with water, and leave for 24-48 hours.
- Drink as much fresh shungite water as you like throughout the day.
Shungite mineralizes water, filling it with fullerenes and invigorating it since it is a strong mineral. It is thought that you will boost your immune and digestive systems, purify your body, and protect it from dangerous chemicals found in normal tap water by drinking shungite water.
EMF & 5G PROTECTION
On a daily basis, we all utilize technological gadgets. We are constantly on the phone, watching television, and using computers because they make our lives easier. However, many of us are unaware that all of these gadgets emit hazardous electromagnetic radiation, which produce electromagnetic fields, or EMF. It is believed that contemporary 5G technology also generates hazardous radiation known as millimeter waves, which are even more dangerous than EMF.
EMF has a number of negative consequences, including mood swings, migraines, a weaker immune system, sleep difficulties, and even vision impairments. Another type of electromagnetic radiation exists: the Earth's electromagnetic field is unbalanced in some areas, resulting in geopathic stress. Children are especially vulnerable to damaging radiation in such areas, making them particularly hazardous.
Widespread claims exist that scientists have proven that shungite protects us from EMF by neutralizing up to 90% of the dangerous electromagnetic radiation in the environment. This could be true. You may protect yourself, your family, and your loved ones by using shungite tools like pyramids, phone plates, and jewelry.
SHUNGITE’S ROLE IN AGRICULTURE
Shungite is frequently utilized as a fertilizer in agriculture due to its perceived absorbing and antimicrobial characteristics. It is claimed that shungite absorbs dangerous germs, poisons, and contaminations, making it essential for the body's health. To guarantee a plentiful crop, use 400-500 grams of shungite powder per 1 square meter. Simply combine it with soil and sow the seeds. Shungite improves crop by 20-30% when used twice a year, according to research. You may also apply shungite powder on your houseplants to help them grow healthier and blossom for longer periods of time. Simply sprinkle some shungite powder into a plant container - it's that easy!
Water your plants with shungite water to get the most out of shungite in your yard. As previously said, shungite water offers the same advantages as shungite, including the same beneficial microelements that will help your plants.
SHUNGITE FOR HEALTH AND BEAUTY
Because of its unique chemical structure, shungite offers natural therapeutic qualities in addition to EMF protection and agriculture.
Shungite's importance in several areas, such as health and beauty, filtration, and EMF protection, has received little research. However, based on anecdotal evidence, having a shungite item in your home and wearing shungite jewelry on a regular basis is considered to boost your immune system, blood pressure, and blood circulation. You will also notice that you are sleeping better and are less stressed.
Shungite is made up of fullerenes, as previously stated. Scientists have discovered that fullerenes have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. As a result, shungite is extensively used in cosmetics: shungite-based shampoos, balms, lotions, face masks, and other products are quite effective.
Joint aches, spinal pains, and bruises are treated with healing balms and gels. Creams and face masks containing shungite are useful for avoiding dryness, alleviating inflammation, and treating acne. Shungite promotes cellular regeneration and blood circulation, which provides shungite cosmetics an anti-aging function, thanks to its antibacterial action and high amount of natural antioxidants.
Externally, shungite water can be used to treat skin disorders, acne, inflammations, and bruises. Shungite water improves the general condition of your skin by restoring the pH balance of your skin. Shungite products are often used for massage. Shungite massage stones and sticks, for example, may be used for both cold and hot stone therapy. Massage with shungite stones improves blood circulation, relieves back discomfort, and boosts your overall health.
SHUNGITE FROM COLOMBIA
It used to be that Elite Shungite came from only one location on the planet, and that used to be Russia. It was a great system for catching fakes in the market, knowing they weren’t from Russia. BUT GAME CHANGER HERE! New find of ELITE SHUNGITE from COLOMBIA is here to shake up the market. Since it is very NEW in terms of discovery, scientific tests are still being done to understand it better and to understand if it has any differences from the Russian material, though, initial discovery tests have confirmed this material to indeed be 100% authentic ELITE SHUNGITE. GIA, Gemological Institute of America, which was established in 1931, an independent nonprofit, to protect the gem and jewelry buying public through research, education, and laboratory services has tested Colombian Shungite to be 99% carbon, which falls in alignment to the Russian Elite Shungite specimen. This is also exciting metaphysically, because since this is a new find, there’s no information available yet on the differences, if any, metaphysically, between the Russian Elite Shungite and this Colombian Elite Shungite. Look out for our next Shungite article for our experience with Colombian Shungite, and what we believe are somethings to note, metaphysically, with Colombian Shungite!

CLOSING
Shungite is a carbon-rich, black, glossy, non-crystalline mineraloid that contains more than 98 percent carbon by weight. It was discovered in a deposit near the region of Shunga in Karelia, Russia, where it derives its name. It has been discovered that shungite contains tiny quantities of fullerenes (0.0001 0.001 percent). This stone is thought to be anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and protective against EMF exposure. Additionally, some believe that it may detoxify water and alleviate emotional tension.
Despite these advantages, shungite research is limited. However, there is typically no danger in attempting to use the stone. Even though scientific study on this stone and its advantages is still missing, there have been several testimonials to its benefits in the metaphysical community, which relies on perceptions and experiences that cannot be easily examined, researched, or proven in the physical science realm— which does not mean that it does not possibly exist, just that it isn't readily accessible to understanding it in a quantifiable way...yet. Beyond this, the mind is the greatest source of power and creation—if this stone helps you, and you think this stone helps you, it isn't that far-fetched to create that reality from your thought, and for it to be beneficial in the ways you hoped, within the stone's energy boundaries. What harm could there be in giving it a try? (So long as it is genuine shungite, and it contains at least 98 percent pure carbon. We have them!)
Shungite is available at natural health stores, jewelry stores, and online. Simply verify that the stone is authenticated as shungite prior to purchasing.
