SHUNGITE

Shungite is known as the miracle stone and is highly prized for its healing properties. Its name is derived from the village of Shung’ga, where it was first discovered. Formed about 2 million years ago, in a large area of the Karelia Republic in Russia, it is a noncrystalline carbon with a metastable structure incapable of graphitization. It is basically an older version of coal, which was created naturally only 300- 500 million years ago. Shungite was created through the slow process of petrification, and the environmental conditions surrounding it created natural fullerenes, which are hollow crystalline formations of carbon molecules. This is the only known natural source of c60 and c70 fullerenes, this quality alone, making it a miracle in itself, and they are currently of great scientific interest because of their ability to purify water, act as powerful antioxidants, and be a possible treatment for cancer.  Shungite is rated a 3.5 on the Mohs hardness scale and while it is mostly carbon, according to Judy Hall in Crystal Bible 3, “Shungite contains virtually all the minerals in the periodic table.”  She goes further, stating that “it may have been instrumental in creating life on earth.” This beautiful stone can bring forth positive blessings and positive results, helping you know what is healthy and beneficial for a better and healthier life, as well as keeping you positively grounded to the earth. There are 3 known types of Shungite:

Black/Regular Shungite: 

Containing between 30-50% carbon, and being solid black in color, this form of shungite is commonly used for statues, figurines, spheres, and jewelry. It is much easier to shape, and much less likely to chip or crack while carving or break while being worn. This shungite is not used to purify water, due to its low carbon content, but it still carries many energetic properties and is a good blocker of EMF.  

Petrovsky Shungite: 

This stone was named after the Russian Emperor, Peter the Great, and is made of 50-75% organic carbon. Unlike elite shungite, this variation of the stone can be cut or polished, giving it an intense shine. This stone is frequently used to fabricate objects, and is often tumbled into pocket sized carrying stones or palm stones.  Not nearly as dark in appearance as black shungite, but having more intense energetic properties, only when tumbled, it can be used as a purifier of water, but it will take longer than elite shungite. Since the carbon content is lower, other minerals such as pyrite can be present that can get into your water in its raw form.    

Elite, Noble, or Royal Shungite:

Elite shungite is a black, glass-like mineral that reflects silver. It contains over 90% organic carbon, and in its purest forms, can contain over 95%. It accounts for approximately 1% of the shungite found on earth. This form of shungite is by far the most powerful in its energetic signature and its healing properties, and is the most effective form to be used in the purification of water. It is rare, fragile, and difficult to shape, which is why it is not polished or cut and almost always found in its original form. 

Shungite for Cleaning Water: 

Access to clean water is a problem as old as civilization, and in fact, some cultures would just resort to drinking mead or wine instead. The most common way to purify water has always been to boil it.
