This Morion Quartz was a one time find in China in 2012! Smokey Quartz occurs all over the world. Water clear high luster gemmy smokey is highly sought after and somewhat rare. Switzerland is perhaps most known for the standard of top grade Smokey Quartz, but quite a few other localities can challenge Swiss Smokey Quartz. Malawi in particular has what we believe to be the best Smokey Quartz on earth! Also Mulangi and Zomba both produce great clarity.
The Chinese mineral industry produces an array of specimens from several rich regions within its borders! We cannot think of Chinese minerals without first thinking of Fluorite. China has the greatest variety of Fluorites of any country! What China lacks in pegmatite minerals, it makes up for in the prolific new sulfide deposits of Inner Mongolia. One thing is for sure about China... when it produces, it usually produces in quantity! As the Chinese continue further into industrialization, more regions are extricated for their needs, and more specimens will become available.
