These crystals of rutile intergrown with hematite are some of the most avant-garde specimens we have seen! This is a profound example featuring a nucleus of hexagonal hematite crystals, with divergent yellow needle-like crystals of rutile spraying outward in every direction. This symbiotic relationship between two minerals is sometimes referred to as an “epitaxial” relationship. When the oxides of two metals, rutile and iron meet- there is natural art to be made. This small cabinet specimen is sure to add lots of character to your collection.
