Rio Grande do Sul Brazil
Anhydrite is the mineral product of eons of sea water evaporation. This mineral is rarely found in nature, but may sometimes have its form preserved by a replacement of quartz, as seen in this specimen. It has sculptural aesthetics with platy, divergent crystals, reminiscent of some types of coral. The crystal blades have an attractive pink color that helps them stand out from the matrix- a very beautiful medium cabinet piece from the basalt region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
