This Fuchsite Quartz was mined in 2010 in Balochistan. Fuchsite is a type of green Mica found in Quartz and can often be included with copper, giving it an intense lime green color! It's found in different locations around the world, with the most famous locality for copper inclusion being Chalt Chaprot in Northern Pakistan. Chalt Chaprot is famous for producing some of the finest green quartz on the planet! The first piece we ever saw was on eBay back in 2002. It was a complete floater with the most stunning bright green color we have ever seen, and at 3 cm in size it was priced at $2000! This area has produced VERY little material over the years and it commands high prices directly from the miners. For several years we were in hot pursuit of this material and it took several more years before a parcel was secured for us that we were happy with. In the early 90s there was a pocket found which brought this variety of Quartz to the attention of major dealers and collectors. The largest perfect crystal found that we know of in collectible quality is 15 cm! Most of the crystals with this inclusion are small double terminated floaters. The smaller they are, the better chance of them containing a high concentration of colorful inclusion!
Quartz was our first stone passion. For a decade we have attempted to gather as much diversely included and colorful Quartzes as we could find, from every corner of the globe, travelling both to country of origin, and utilizing a vast network of suppliers developed through exhibiting at major USA and international gem and mineral shows. Here is a representation of those efforts - some of the best of our finds, as well as a tremendous volume that has just piled up as a result of wholesaling in volume! If you have a variety of aesthetic Quartz to add to our offerings, we'd love to see a flat of material! We also personally collect high quality fine Quartzes.
There is such a huge diversity of Quartz in Pakistan. We became obsessed for a few years working with a contact in Peshawar to try and develop new and unknown areas for finding ground breaking and breath taking Quartzes. Balochistan, is one of the four provinces of Pakistan, located in the southwestern region of the country. Its provincial capital and largest city is Quetta.
