Ping Wu, China
This specimen has damage to the main crystal. This famous sea-colored precious stone has long been sought after to fill the true-blue spectrum in the gem world as an alternative to the harder and pricier sapphire. Deep blues are hard to come by, but do hail recently from Madagascar, Vietnam, and Mozambique. Other major Aquamarine specimen deposits of note are Pakistan, Namibia, and Brazil. While always found in the market, truly top quality colored fine aquamarine is scarce.
The Chinese mineral industry produces an array of specimens from several rich regions within its borders! We cannot think of Chinese minerals without first thinking of Fluorite. China has the greatest variety of Fluorites of any country! What China lacks in pegmatite minerals, it makes up for in the prolific new sulfide deposits of Inner Mongolia. One thing is for sure about China... when it produces, it usually produces in quantity! As the Chinese continue further into industrialization, more regions are extricated for their needs, and more specimens will become available.
