Brandberg Mountain Region in Goboboseb, Namibia
Amethyst comes from all over the world. There are some famous prolific deposits and some oddball localities. There are too many to name! Amethyst has the ability to form in quite a variety of ways, making it highly collectible. Check back regularly as there will always be more to make it to this page! Smokey Quartz comes from so many places on the planet that it is impossible to mention them all! We have a wide variety of Smokey Quartz from just about every continent. If you are looking for a specific locality or attribute in a Smokey Quartz, please feel free to ask us. Quartz was our first stone passion. For a decade we have attempted to gather as much diversely included and colorful Quartzes as we could find, from every corner of the globe, travelling both to country of origin, and utilizing a vast network of suppliers developed through exhibiting at major USA and international gem and mineral shows. Here is a representation of those efforts - some of the best of our finds, as well as a tremendous volume that has just piled up as a result of wholesaling in volume! If you have a variety of aesthetic Quartz to add to our offerings, we'd love to see a flat of material! We also personally collect high quality fine Quartzes.
Namibia possesses Africa's most developed mineral culture. The amount of detail given to collect specimens without damage, and to understand the value (as opposed to the many gem-rough communities across Africa who do not understand the need for such care), has given Namibia a unique opportunity to display a full range of specimens to the world, year after year! Africa has many mining challenges but Namibia is rich with opportunity, and has been visited for specimen collecting by foreigners for over 100 years! Brandberg produces the world's most famous Amethyst specimen deposit! Nowhere else can boast the sheer number of possibilities of a quartz specimen all contained in one piece as in this region. Particularly at the Goboboseb deposit, crystals can contain ALL of the following characteristics in one piece: sceptering, smokey and amethyst color zoned phantoms, multiple Hematite fleck inclusions, skeletal hoppering, 3-phase enhydro inclusions, mirror luster and brilliance, water gem clarity, and list goes on and on!! Mind blowing crystals come from this location year after year!
