Blue River Region in Kavalerova, Far East Russia
Prasem in Greek and Prazym in Russian both translate to "green". In Greece, Green Quartz with a Hedenbergite inclusion is from the island of Seriphos off the coast. It is a fantastical variety of Quartz with amazing color, unusual shape, rare inclusion, and exceptional aesthetics in cluster form! Quite a few pockets of this material have come out over the years, each one being slightly different. All of our clusters have been professionally cleaned. In Far East Russia, Green Actinolite included Quartz is from the Blue River Deposit of Kavalerova and sits on Andradite Garnet. The mining season is very short in this harsh cold climate! For a few years we collected material and brought it to the big shows worldwide. But in 2012 we were told that the government wanted a mining license renewal fee of $100,000!! Needless to say, future production is unlikely as it is simply not viable. We do have a very nice stock of aesthetic high grade specimens and single crystals available.
Quartz was our first stone passion. For a decade we have attempted to gather as much diversely included and colorful Quartzes as we could find, from every corner of the globe, travelling both to country of origin, and utilizing a vast network of suppliers developed through exhibiting at major USA and international gem and mineral shows. Here is a representation of those efforts - some of the best of our finds, as well as a tremendous volume that has just piled up as a result of wholesaling in volume! If you have a variety of aesthetic Quartz to add to our offerings, we'd love to see a flat of material! We also personally collect high quality fine Quartzes.
Russians may bear the most land and likely the greatest mineral wealth! Getting mineral specimens out of Russia continues to be a challenge though! The Dalnegorsk region produces regularly and seems to find its way to market through a few legal export means. Some tourmaline and other lapidary rough does make it to market. For the amount of mineralization they possess, one would hope we could see more specimens in the future!
