Amethyst comes from all over the world. There are some famous prolific deposits and some oddball localities. There are too many to name! Amethyst has the ability to form in quite a variety of ways, making it highly collectible. The majority of Indian Quartz in the market comes from both Karur in the South and many different areas in the far North high in the Himalayas. Alpine deposits produce a stunning array of water clear quartz, sometimes with etchings. Nepal in particular is known for its extremely clear Quartz. In the indian Himalayas, a wide variety of included Quartz is found, seemingly with a new type every year or so surfacing, and then disappearing again.
India surprisingly does not offer a wide variety of mineral treasures. They do have an extensive deposit of Zeolite minerals that dazzle the eye with amazing color and aesthetic. Karur, in the south, is a fantastic world renowned Amethyst deposit. And far north in the Himalayas, like all mountain ranges, exceptional quartzes of great variety can be found.
