This Faden Quartz was mined in 2005 in Pakistan. Faden means "thread" in German, and refers to the white line that usually runs through the center of the crystal. Faden Quartz comes from a handful of locations worldwide but is most prevalent in Pakistan. Historically it came from Waziristan but more recently has been found in the city of Quetta in Northern Pakistan. It also comes from many other alpine-type localities.
Quartz was our first stone passion. For a decade we have attempted to gather as much diversely included and colorful Quartzes as we could find, from every corner of the globe, travelling both to country of origin, and utilizing a vast network of suppliers developed through exhibiting at major USA and international gem and mineral shows. Here is a representation of those efforts - some of the best of our finds, as well as a tremendous volume that has just piled up as a result of wholesaling in volume! If you have a variety of aesthetic Quartz to add to our offerings, we'd love to see a flat of material! We also personally collect high quality fine Quartzes. There is such a huge diversity of Quartz in Pakistan. We became obsessed for a few years working with a contact in Peshawar to try and develop new and unknown areas for finding ground breaking and breath taking Quartzes. Northern Pakistan is globally recognized for producing some of the world's best gem Aquamarines and associate minerals! Recently this area of Pakistan is becoming more well known for its vast diversity in Quartz inclusions and habits as well. We offer a sampling from some of the mining projects we did regionally back in the 2000s.
